EHS Athletics and Activities is excited to team up with Granny's Drive-thru & Dine-in to be able to honor an Estacada High School excelling student in extracurricular club or activity. Each week, The Granny's Ranger Star of the Week will receive a credit at Granny's Drive-thru for $10. At the end of each month, Granny's will hold a $20 drawing for the Granny's Rangers Star of that Month and let EHS Athletics know who wins via email. Ranger Star of the Week Sophomore McKenzie Browning Bowling is a sport that is inclusive of all abilities. Every bowler has a different way of bowling. As a coach you help them master their game. McKenzie has trusted me to coach her for multiple years. She always shows amazing sportsmanship. She asks for advice from me, stays positive, and is always willing to show up to practice. Sometimes driv8ng in for 45 mins of practice with the team and myself. McKenzie is one of those bowlers who's game is developing and evolving. She is on The Estacada Girls High School Team which is part of the Eastside High School Bowling program. In the teams 1st year and only having six weeks of practice as a team, we were able to win 2nd at districts. On Feb 21st through Feb 23rd we will be bowling for the state championship in Klamath Falls. Mckenzie is putting in practice up to 5 days a week. High school bowling is competitive and takes a lot of practice, team work, and good sportsmanship. It takes practice just like a normal sport but it also takes teamwork because it is not based on one bowler's ability. She is a true example of someone who wants to go far in this game, sport, and program. Some Highlights from Districts. McKenzie made the team winning spare in the step ladder final. We ended up winning that game because of that spare. She also just bowled her highest scratch series ever on Saturday Feb 1st. The series is 3 games. She is such an amazing bowler, member of our youth league community, and one of the founding youth bowlers on the Girls Estacada high school team. High School Bowling is an emerging sport as over 250 colleges in the US alone offer scholarships for bowling. Our organization currently offers a federal pell grant match. If any other youths at Estacada want to join a competitive team with a structured program that helps the kids get access to extra scholarship opportunities please feel free to reach out.
